Turkey's Exporters Council (TİM) organized a trade delegation to Doha, the capital of Qatar, between 29 February and 4 March. The delegation, which included 34 exporters from 28 companies, conducted over 500 business meetings between Turkish and Qatari firms, alongside the Turkey-Qatar business forum. TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle stated, "We maintain strong political relations with Qatar and equally good economic ties. During the commercial discussions held in Qatar, our exporters achieved successful negotiations on new business partnerships across various sectors, ranging from marble to electronic products, ready-made garments and textiles to telecommunications." Exporters conducted their first trade delegation of 2020 to Qatar. The Qatar Trade Delegation was organized between 29 February and 4 March in Doha, the capital of Qatar, under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce, with TİM's organization and Turkish Airlines' cooperation. The delegation comprised 34 businesspeople from 28 companies operating in sectors including processed foods, marble, construction, furniture, ready-made garments and textiles, telecommunications, prefabricated structures, electronic products, cleaning supplies and fruit and vegetable products. Following the business forum, bilateral business meetings were held, with over 500 business discussions taking place between Qatari and Turkish companies.

We are making efforts to develop relations with Qatar

Turkey's Exporters Council (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle, evaluating the commercial discussions held with Qatar, stated, "There is a strong bond between the two countries both politically and economically. Particularly in order to develop economic relations, we are making efforts as field personnel of exports. During the commercial discussions held in Qatar, our exporters achieved successful negotiations on establishing new business partnerships across many sectors, ranging from marble to furniture, ready-made garments and textiles to telecommunications."

Defense and Aerospace Industry leads

Referring to the conveniences that Qatar provides to foreign investors and companies, İsmail Gülle said: "With 95,000 exporters, consisting of 90,000 goods exporters and 5,000 service exporters, we are making a very significant contribution to our country's growth. In this regard, we attach importance to bilateral discussions in order to develop our trade with countries. The event held in Qatar is very valuable in this respect. Qatar, with its mutually increasing trade every passing year, is one of the important countries for Turkish exporters. While our exports to Qatar were USD 1.1 billion in 2018, we managed to increase this figure to USD 1.2 billion last year. In our exports to Qatar, the top three sectors were Defense and Aerospace Industry with USD 186.2 million, Chemicals and Chemical Products with USD 121.8 million, and Furniture, Paper and Forest Products with USD 91.7 million. I believe our exporters will continue to maintain this success in a consistent manner and continue to contribute to our exports."
