Chile among our largest trade partners in Latin America
İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister made comments regarding the organized trade delegation.
Pelister, noting that sectoral trade delegations are important for companies to conclude new agreements and increase their market share, stated: "As İKMİB, we support our exporters through many activities ranging from fair national participations and trade delegations to purchasing delegations, seminars and trainings. We organized the Chile Sectoral Trade Delegation between 14-19 April 2024 for our packaging sector, which operates under the plastics and products sector. Chile, which is among our target countries and located in South America, holds a strategic position between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. In 2023, Chile ranked 8th among our largest trade partners in the Latin America region. At the same time, there is a Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Chile. This provides significant advantages for our exports," he said.
Holds important potential for the chemical sector
Pelister, sharing that Turkey's exports to Chile in 2023 amounted to USD 305.1 million and imports to USD 215.7 million, stated: "Chemical substances and products rank first in Turkey's exports to Chile. According to TradeMap data, Turkey ranks 20th in Chile's plastic packaging sector imports by country. In 2023, our country's exports to Chile in the plastic packaging sector amounted to USD 6.1 million. Therefore, Chile is a country to which we have an export surplus and holds important potential in terms of chemical sector exports. In this regard, we believe that the Sectoral Trade Delegation we organized is an important opportunity for our companies to establish new business connections," he said.
"We will continue to support our sector"
Also sharing information about İKMİB's upcoming events, Pelister stated: "In the coming period, we will organize national participation for the NPE Fair to be held in Orlando, USA between 6-10 May 2024, and the PRSE-Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2024 Fair to be held in the Netherlands on 19-20 June 2024 for the plastic recycling sector. Additionally, we plan to organize the Russia Home and Kitchen Goods Sector Trade Delegation between 10-12 June 2024. As İKMİB, we will continue to support our sector," he said.
