Guardian Glass Behind the Minimalist, Striking Façade Design of Ankara Office Tower

Designed through a collaboration between Anmahian Winton Architects and rggA Mimarlık, the Ankara Office Tower (312 Vista Office Tower) located on the Eskişehir Highway axis connecting western Ankara plays an important urban role. With Guardian UltraClear® and Guardian SunGuard® SN 70/37 coated glass products used in the facade design, Guardian Glass assists in expressing the building's distinctive design language in its simplest form on the facades. Designed by Boston-based Anmahian Winton Architects and with local consultation provided by rggA Mimarlık, the Ankara Office Tower is a next-generation office building designed to serve nearby educational and research institutes as well as domestic and foreign high-technology companies interested in investing in and exploring the technopole model. The simplicity of expression created by a minimal-geometry glass volume rising from a verdant garden, covering large-scale horizontal wooden louver stacks, is the most striking feature distinguishing the structure from its surroundings. The tower, which draws attention with its austere expression, offers an energy-efficient facade year-round through its innovative coating system with variable cross-section featuring horizontal recesses. The Guardian UltraClear® and Guardian SunGuard® SN 70/37 coated glass used in the building clad with a high-performance ventilated facade, through its multipurpose coating, reduces the need for artificial light while providing solar control combined with superior thermal insulation. The building, which presents different patterns on the facade depending on the viewer's perspective, is also one of 100 projects that earned recognition among the winners in the "Best High-Rise Building" category at the 2018 International Architecture Awards organized by the Chicago Athenaeum.
