Assan Alüminyum Ranks Above Average in CDP 2023

Assan Aluminium ranked above global average and the global metals sector average in environmental performance in the CDP 2023 assessment, one of the world's most important reporting platforms. Assan Aluminium became the first company in its sector in Turkey to report on climate change and environmental performance through CDP. Assan Aluminium, one of Europe's two largest producers by aluminium foil production capacity, achieved notable scores both globally and at national level in the environmental reporting platform CDP 2023 results. CDP, a London-based non-profit international organization, mediates companies' reporting to investors on how natural resources and natural capital are used, how their operations impact the reproduction of limited resources, and how they manage risks in this area. Through the platform in 2023, more than 23,000 companies reported environmental performance data. Participating companies are evaluated based on their answers to questions grouped under 11 headings. Assan Aluminium General Manager Göksal Güngör stated that they felt great joy and pride in the results they achieved in the assessment by a platform like CDP, which holds an important place in the environmental field. Güngör said that in the CDP assessment they participated in for the first time in 2023, they achieved a 'B' score with their environmental performance above global average and the global metals sector average, and that they were also the first company in their sector in Turkey to report on climate change and environmental performance through CDP. [caption id="attachment_159766" align="aligncenter"] Assan Aluminium General Manager Göksal Güngör[/caption] Noting that Assan Aluminium, which today manages all its operations in line with sustainability principles, ranks among the important global actors in its sector with products and technologies contributing to the world's future, Güngör stated: "Through the cold rolling line investment we made recently and comprehensive modernization of older lines, we have taken significant steps in terms of both added value and sustainability. Last year, for our investments aimed at reducing our carbon footprint, we received USD 90 million in 'green credit' support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), making us the first company in our sector to receive 100 percent climate-labelled green credit support." Güngör emphasized that as a result of Assan Aluminium's sustainability activities, the company obtained the Sustainability Performance Standard Certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), a global framework initiative for the entire value chain of the aluminium sector, certifying that both its Tuzla and Dilovası production facilities and recycling facility operate in accordance with global sustainability principles.
