Yavuz Işık Re-elected as President of the European Ready Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO)

At the 2019 Annual General Assembly Meeting of the European Ready-Mixed Concrete Organisation (ERMCO) held in Valencia, Spain on 14 June 2019, THBB President Yavuz Işık was re-elected to the ERMCO Presidency by the votes of 50 delegates and the decision of the Board of Directors composed of representatives from Germany, Italy and Turkey. Turkey has been a full member of the European Ready-Mixed Concrete Organisation (ERMCO) since 1991 and has held the ERMCO Presidency since 2016.

Yavuz Işık made statements regarding his re-election to the Presidency of the European Ready-Mixed Concrete Organisation (ERMCO):

Işık said "We have been working dedicatedly with our members for many years to promote the production and use of quality, accurate, environmentally conscious and sustainable concrete necessary for the construction of safe and durable structures in Turkey. Today, Turkey is the leading producer of ready-mixed concrete in Europe and the third largest ready-mixed concrete producer in the world. While the total production volume of European Union member countries exceeds 230 million cubic metres, Turkey alone produces 100 million cubic metres of concrete. Thanks to our association's efforts, Turkey surpasses the EU average not only in terms of quantity but also in the strength classes of the concretes used. By maintaining our consistent and professional perspective, we have achieved numerous successes at national and international platforms. As a result of the international impact of our work, we have held the ERMCO presidency since 2016. In this way, while bringing our producers' demands to the agenda in Europe, we are also shaping developments affecting our sector on a global scale. We are leaving the meeting, in which we participated representing our country and THBB, having undertaken the ERMCO presidency task again. In the coming period, as we have done before, we will set new targets for the development of the concrete sector both in Europe and Turkey and will carry out work to advance our sector" he said. ERMCO, the largest international organisation in the ready-mixed concrete field, has been active since 1967. ERMCO, which is the umbrella organisation for ready-mixed concrete producers in twenty countries in Europe, also has associate members from the USA, India, Japan, New Zealand and South America, and correspondent members from Kyrgyzstan and Russia. ERMCO manages numerous projects encompassing new concepts in the ready-mixed concrete field such as concrete and sustainability, responsible use of resources, recycling of waste concrete water and construction waste in urban regeneration. In this way, while producing environmentally friendly ideas, it also develops solutions that will contribute to the economy.
