Azelis Becomes Market Leader in Australia and New Zealand with Chemcolour Acquisition
Azelis has decided to acquire Chemcolour, the leading distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The company's 90-person specialist team will continue working within Azelis.
The acquisition will strengthen Azelis's position in ANZ, making it one of the region's most important distributors. Chemcolour, which holds a strong position in the local market, has demonstrated consistent growth in both the specialty chemicals and food sectors in recent years.
Through its solid values, technical expertise, and innovative, solution-focused approach, the company has built a strong portfolio of global suppliers.
Azelis CEO Dr. Hans Joachim Müller commented on the agreement: "Australia and New Zealand are prosperous countries with growing populations and rich natural resources. These fundamental characteristics of the country have positively contributed to Chemcolour's business activities, and through this acquisition, we now have an excellent platform to extend our operations with existing global suppliers to Australia and New Zealand."
Azelis APAC CEO Laurent Nataf commented: "Chemcolour has a significant presence and a long-established track record in both New Zealand and Australia.
Considering both its superior product portfolio and services as well as the technical knowledge and commercial skills of its employees, it has developed a business model that is perfectly suited to local markets. Since we work towards becoming the local champion in every region we serve, we are confident that this transaction will create an excellent fit. I believe we will generate significant synergies across many areas and achieve new milestones together. "Chemcolour CEO Murray Nancekivell: "Chemcolour is in a strong position in the New Zealand and Australian markets, and we believe this is the right timing to sustain this growth. Azelis's acquisition of Chemcolour will enable us to achieve a significantly stronger position to better serve our customers and suppliers. When combined with the highly compatible values of both Azelis and Chemcolour, this will create excellent opportunities for our employees in the future." Funds advised by Apax Partners have been major shareholders of Azelis since 2015 and are committed to supporting the company's growth in the specialty chemicals and food ingredients distribution sector. The acquisition of Chemcolour is regarded as evidence of this commitment, and Apax believes that the developments in service portfolio and global reach resulting from this acquisition will provide significant advantages for the Group's customers.Advertisement
