Bayer Young Science Ambassadors Are Nurturing the Scientists of the Future

The Bayer Young Science Ambassadors project, implemented by Bayer Turkey and the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) in cooperation with Yuva Association, reached an additional 1,000 children in just 4 days. Since 2011, the Bayer Young Science Ambassadors project has reached 34,000 children across 81 provinces. The project aims to encourage primary school-age children in Turkey toward careers in science and to contribute to the development of scientific literacy. Implemented by Bayer Turkey and the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) in cooperation with Yuva Association, the Bayer Young Science Ambassadors project reached an additional 1,000 children in just 4 days with 12 Science Ambassadors at Istanbul Avcılar Leyla Bayram Primary School. Since 2011, 2,542 science ambassadors consisting of volunteer university students and teachers have been trained through the project, and 34,000 children across Turkey have been reached with these ambassadors. Support was provided to keep children's curiosity and desire to learn about science alive. In the first phase of the two-phase Bayer Young Science Ambassadors Project, Science Ambassadors comprising volunteer university students participate in training designed with non-formal education modules under the title "Scientific Literacy." Subsequently, they implement a series of activities in primary schools to generate interest in science among primary school-age children and to foster a love of science. The "Science Seeds Team," the mobile unit of the Bayer Young Science Ambassadors project, travels village to village across Turkey in a mobile education vehicle, meeting children in rural settlements. The Bayer Young Science Ambassadors project aims to reach an additional 5,000 children with 250 science ambassadors in 2019. The "Science Seeds Team" plans to conduct various activities in 10 different provinces such as Batman, Ağrı, Sinop and Yozgat this year.
