Clariant Significantly Increases Sales and Profitability Again
Clariant Increased Sales and Profitability Significantly in 2016 Along with Operating Cash Flow
Operating cash flow rose to CHF 646 million from CHF 502 million in 2015, recording a significant increase of 29 percent.
Clariant announced that sales figures rose to CHF 5.847 billion in 2016 from CHF 5.807 billion in 2015. This increase, supported by higher volumes, represents a 2 percent growth on a local currency basis. The regions with the strongest year-on-year growth on a local currency basis were Asia, Middle East and Africa at 4 percent. China and India were the countries providing the strongest support to growth in Asia. Growth in North America and Europe reached 2 percent. Latin America grew by 1 percent. Sales performance showing improvement throughout the year was driven by strong growth in the Maintenance Chemicals and Plastics and Coatings segments. Sales in Maintenance Chemicals increased by 5 percent on a local currency basis to CHF 1.465 billion. Sales in the Plastics and Coatings segment increased by 4 percent on a local currency basis to CHF 2.525 billion. The rising sales performance in the Plastics and Coatings segments showed its impact across all regions. Net profit this year rose to CHF 263 million from CHF 227 million recorded in the previous year. The 16 percent year-on-year increase resulted from continued growth in absolute EBITDA, lower financial costs and improved tax rates.Advertisement
