DAİB Achieves Exports of USD 2 Billion 459 Million

DAİB Achieved USD 2.459 Billion in Exports DAİB's 2022 exports were recorded at USD 2,459,003,000. According to a compilation based on data from DAİB and Turkey Exporters Assembly (TİM), last year products from the provinces of Ağrı, Ardahan, Batman, Bayburt, Bingöl, Bitlis, Erzurum, Erzincan, Elazığ, Iğdır, Hakkari, Muş, Şırnak, Tunceli, Van, Kars and Siirt within the union's responsibility area were sent to 191 free and special economic zones and the country. DAİB member companies that sold USD 1.806 billion worth of industrial products abroad in 2021 recorded USD 1.838 billion in industrial sector exports with a 1.78 percent increase in the same period of 2022, and USD 403,037,000 in agricultural exports.

Mining sector exports surpassed 50 percent growth

The union's mining sector exports increased by 54.46 percent year-on-year, rising from USD 140,845,000 to USD 217,549,000. In industrial product exports, the chemicals sector led the previous year with USD 328,752,000. This sector was followed by machinery with USD 258,654,000 and steel sector with USD 256,310,000. DAİB member companies exported USD 59,041,000 from cereals, pulses, oilseeds and their products, USD 58,263,000 from fresh fruits and vegetables, and USD 64,019,000 from fruit and vegetable products.

Highest exports to Iraq

When evaluating the union's 2022 exports by country, Iraq ranked first with USD 492,239,000. Iraq was followed by Iran with USD 159,670,000, Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan with USD 135,699,000, Germany with USD 96,761,000, and Israel with USD 89,095,000. DAİB Board Chairman Ethem Tanrıver stated that Turkey, which set an export record of USD 254 billion last year, received approximately USD 2.5 billion in exports contribution from union member companies. Noting that Turkey grows through exports and manufacturing, Tanrıver said, "We have very ambitious targets in the Turkish Century; we will increase our exports. The number of exporters has increased, and our progress continues in every respect. Now the sun is rising from the East." Pointing out that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk established Turkey's first exporters union in Erzurum in 1937, Tanrıver said that East Anatolia has provided positive contribution to exporters.

Expressing that Turkey showed very good performance in exports in 2022, Tanrıver continued as follows:

"We have developed very serious exports and trade with our neighboring countries. In particular, Iraq, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Syria became our leading neighbors in our USD 2.5 billion exports. We will develop this further. The railway passes through this route, and with the opening of tunnels, our distance to ports has shortened and our logistics infrastructure has improved. Last year we exported nearly 7,000 products in 25 different sectors. I congratulate those who contributed to this."   Source
