Today, more colorful facades are being designed and produced, going beyond traditional designs.

Baumit, the expert brand in thermal insulation, produces exterior facade paints and coatings not only to bring health and comfort to the buildings that form our living spaces, but also to give them color and an aesthetic appearance.

Baumit, one of the leading brands in thermal insulation systems in Europe with more than 40 production facilities in over 30 countries, also has an ambitious product range in exterior facade paints and coatings. Among all Baumit countries, paint production is currently carried out by Austria and Türkiye. Türkiye continues to serve as a role model for other Baumit countries by producing exterior facade paints and coatings to European standards.

The paint and coating products we manufacture for exterior facades are examined according to TS 7847 and classified according to the TS EN 1062-1 standard. In summary, the TS EN 1062-1 standard sets out the criteria that must be taken into account when evaluating a coating system's suitability for the intended end use.

Accordingly, products are defined based on the chemical type of the binder and the type of solvent. We primarily produce water-soluble exterior facade paints and coatings using potassium silicate, silicone resin and pure acrylic binder types. In Türkiye, the concept of water-based products is quite widely used and adopted. The need for special conditions in the storage and use of paints obtained with organic solvents increases the prevalence of water-dilutable products. Basically, paint and coating products consist of four components. The components that make up the structure are: binder, solvent, additive and functional fillers. It is possible to impart different mechanical properties to the products manufactured by using different types of binders. For example, our nanotechnological products NanoporColor and NanoporTop are able to achieve a high water vapor transmission rate thanks to the potassium silicate binder. In these products, the water vapor transmission rate (µ) is greater than 150 g/m².d; the equivalent air layer thickness (Sd) is smaller than 0.14 m. According to TS EN 1062-1, water vapor transmission rate is defined in four types. V0= no requirement, V1= high, V2= medium and V3= low water vapor transmission rate.
