Diyarbakır Becomes Logistics Hub A logistics center to be built on 217 hectares as part of Diyarbakır's vision projects will feature a 5-track railway terminal, 23 warehouses (16 of which with railway access), 161,500 square meters of licensed warehouse silo space, a truck park for 700 vehicles and a fuel station. The center will provide various services ranging from the transportation of imported and exported products and raw materials to the storage of all types of goods directed to the domestic market, contributing to both the city and the region. The center will serve as a locomotive for Diyarbakır—one of the most important intersections of the region's major trade routes—in becoming a high value-added production, agriculture and foreign trade city while also supporting employment. Diyarbakır Governor Münir Karaloğlu, noting that Diyarbakır is among the most important cities in terms of becoming a logistics hub, said: "The city did not have a logistics center. There was logistics pressure in the Organized Industrial Zone and small industrial sites. We do not want this. We did not want a logistics center to be established on parcels created for industrial development. To address this, we obtained the title deed for a 2 million 250 thousand square-meter area 16 kilometers from the city center on the Elazığ road for our Metropolitan Municipality. We obtained it with the support of our Environment and Urbanization Minister. Our logistics center project—Turkey's most modern, with a railway line running through it and warehouses connected via railway—has been completed. We announced it and it was published in the Official Gazette. The tender is on 15 October." he said. Karaloğlu expressed their expectation that investors would show interest in this TRY 1 billion 150 million project and called on everyone from within and outside the city interested in the logistics sector to follow the tender. Wishing the project well, Karaloğlu said, "Logistics is now one of the most critical points in production costs. Especially during the pandemic period, we saw more clearly how important logistics is and how it is reflected in production costs. Those engaging in exports and imports are having difficulty finding equipment and vehicles. Logistics is one of the most strategic sectors in the global economy going forward and in this era of e-commerce development. Our logistics village project is very important in making Diyarbakır a logistics hub. On 15 October, I invite all interested investors to submit bids." he said. Source
