Turkey becomes Europe's largest slabstock PU foam production region

EUROPUR (European Flexible Polyurethane Foam Block Manufacturers Association) shared important market data on the flexible polyurethane sector ahead of the conference. In a statement by EUROPUR, "Despite a volatile market, total flexible polyurethane slabstock foam production across the European continent (including Russia and Turkey) reached 1.38 million tons in 2023, representing approximately a 2% increase compared to 2022. However, significant differences exist between European regions. Western Europe recorded substantial production declines, while Eastern and Southern production levels remained stable on average. Turkey again achieved significant growth and for the first time surpassed Poland to become Europe's largest slabstock PU foam production region. The third largest production region remains Iberia (Spain and Portugal). Ultimately, it is still too early to predict how 2024 will end, but trends indicate stability in the market" the statement said.
