Flokser to Nurture Future Scientists with New Chemistry Laboratory
Viewing providing value to society and all its parts as one of its core responsibilities, Flokser carries out activities in many areas, primarily education. In this context, Flokser launched the 'Chemistry Laboratory Project'.
On Friday, 22 March, Flokser opened the chemistry laboratory at the school it identified in the first phase of the project. Through the project, it aims to support students in gaining solid education in this field by providing them with equipment, job opportunities, internships, experience and observation activities.
Since its establishment, Flokser has implemented corporate social responsibility activities in many areas, particularly education, for the development of social and environmental life, and wants to draw attention to issues that need to be addressed in society.
Flokser's social responsibility policy is based on a sustainability strategy within the framework of universal values.
In this context, in the 2018-2019 academic year, Flokser launched the 'Flokser Chemistry Laboratory Project' and on Friday, 22 March, opened the chemistry laboratory at Bahçeşehir İMKB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.
Having identified the laboratory needs of the school, Flokser aims to provide maximum benefit to high school students studying in chemistry who wish to pursue a career in this field.
As of the 2018-2019 academic year, students who began classes both in the laboratory sponsored by Flokser Chemistry and at Flokser's headquarters started working on project topics provided by the company.
Targeting to support schools and students wishing to work in the chemistry field through this project, Flokser Chemistry creates maximum areas of experimentation and observation that students can experience in chemistry lessons.
At the same time, it provides the opportunity to closely learn an industrial organization carrying out activities in chemistry, create job and internship opportunities, and observe and conduct experiments on certain subjects in the curriculum at Flokser Chemistry's professional laboratories and production facilities.
Flokser Chemistry Board Member Ekin Tükek said: "One of the most fundamental issues needed for the development of the chemistry sector is good and sustainable education. With a sense of social responsibility, we launched the 'Flokser Chemistry Laboratory Project' to contribute both to education and to the society in which we operate.
With this project, we aim to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of high school students; to ensure that vocational and technical education develops together with industry. For this project, which we initiated the first step, we selected our second school and have already begun work. In the coming periods, we aim to develop our project further and reach more schools and students," he said. Stating that the chemistry laboratory, which lacked certain facilities in the school, has been made suitable for education and training through the "Flokser Chemistry Laboratory Project", Bahçeşehir İMKB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Principal Mehmet Fikret Ural said: "In our renovated laboratory, we provide more effective and better education to a total of 52 students in the Chemistry Technology Field, which we apply for 23 hours per week for 11th grade students. Thanks to this project, our students have the opportunity to conduct practical experiments on different topics in the content of Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis, Organic Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry courses, and gain the ability to think analytically and interpret. Thus, we contribute to the upbringing of knowledgeable, well-equipped individuals capable of producing solutions and meeting the needs of industry in our age," he said.Advertisement
