Hasan Kalyoncu University Launches New Technology Project

Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) Kalyon Garage Prototyping and Entrepreneurship Centre, which carries out technology, innovation and R&D activities, Solar Power Plants (Rooftop Solar Project) and Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone Technopark were opened with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.

The first stop for Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank was "Kalyon Garage," which was put into operation by HKÜ with the aim of supporting and accelerating R&D, innovation, technology transfer and commercialisation processes and producing high-quality, value-added products, supported by the Silk Road Development Agency within the scope of the Ministry of Industry and Technology's Attraction Centres Support Programme. HKÜ, which meets its electrical energy needs from the sun, increased its installed solar power capacity to 2.25 MWp by installing a 1 MWp solar power plant on the rooftops of buildings on its campus. HKÜ will obtain 3,600 MWh of energy per year from renewable energy sources and will thus prevent 2,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. The opening of HKÜ's "Rooftop Solar Project," which aims for "zero" emissions and will meet almost all of its electrical energy needs from the sun, was also held on the HKÜ Campus. The ribbon for the opening of HKÜ Kalyon Garage Prototyping and Entrepreneurship Centre and Rooftop Solar Project was cut by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, HKÜ Board of Trustees Chair Cemal Kalyoncu, HKÜ Board of Trustees Vice Chair Haluk Kalyoncu, HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli and protocol members.     Source: DHA
