Henkel's Hygiene Project for Children with Autism Henkel, Tohum Otizm Vakfı and istegelsin have launched an initiative to support hygiene education for children with autism. The "Hygiene from Tohum" project will contribute to the self-care skills of children with autism.   For individuals with autism, acquiring self-care skills in education, increasing individual development and ensuring independence is of great importance. Building on this need, Henkel, Tohum Otizm Vakfı and istegelsin have partnered on a project to support autistic students directly or indirectly in self-care skills-related topics that are difficult and require long-term education, such as toilet training, bathing, nail cutting and personal hygiene.
Supporting children with autism through the developed business model
In the business model to be developed through collaboration between Henkel and istegelsin to support individuals with autism directly or indirectly in self-care skills such as toilet training, bathing, nail cutting and personal hygiene, which are difficult and long-term education topics; each Persil, Tursil, Perwoll, Vernel, Pril, Bref, Dixi, Clin and K2R product purchased through istegelsin will support individuals with autism in learning self-care skills and participating in all stages of life as independent individuals.
Hygiene from Tohum
Through the project, the "Personal Hygiene Education Kit for Children with Autism" prepared by Tohum Otizm Vakfı will be sent to special education schools in Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir, with the aim of enabling individuals with autism to learn hygiene skills such as toilet training, bathing and nail cutting through practical application. Special education teachers from each designated province will participate in face-to-face teacher training developed by Tohum Otizm Vakfı. In the next phase of the project, personal hygiene education will be made accessible through the Tohum Otizm Vakfı Education Portal, regardless of time and location. Özgül Gürel, General Director of Tohum Otizm Vakfı, noting that intensive and continuous special education is the most effective path for individuals with autism: "Because prejudices in participation in educational life cannot be broken down, it is not possible for individuals with autism to access good education services and find jobs suited to their abilities in line with the education they receive in later periods. However, individuals with autism who can access the educational environment can achieve the social life they deserve in later ages. One of the most challenging and long-term topics for individuals with autism during education is personal hygiene. For an individual with autism to maintain a standard daily quality of life, they must have acquired self-care skills in the best way possible. Building on this need, the "Hygiene from Tohum" project, which we will implement with the valuable support of Henkel and istegelsin, will help more individuals with autism acquire self-care skills and achieve individual independence. We would like to thank all our stakeholders for their valuable support and collaboration in the project." he said.
