Guardian Glass Shapes the Iconova Project
Guardian Glass SunGuard® SNX 60/28 Product Choice for Iconova Project in Gaziantep
Guardian SunGuard® SNX 60/28, developed by Guardian Glass and featured in many iconic buildings that shape Turkey's urban skylines, was also selected for the Iconova project designed by Tago Architects and constructed through a joint venture of Şireci Grup and Acarsan Holding in Gaziantep.
With a product range offering diversity in visual, technical and economic terms suited to different building types and needs, Guardian Glass has developed SunGuard® SNX 60/28, which provides architects and façade consultants with freedom of choice. Through its excellent energy control, sustainable minimum carbon dioxide emissions and aesthetic superiority, it shaped the façades of the Iconova project in Gaziantep, which is regarded as an attraction centre representing the city's identity and environmental sensitivity.
Designed by TAGO Architects and constructed through a joint venture of Şireci Grup and Acarsan Holding, the project attracts attention with its complex form addressed through an innovative design approach and glass façades produced from curves that follow one another to create a single unified whole.
The clear glass Guardian SunGuard® SNX 60/28, selected for the project's extensive glass surfaces and providing energy control through its low reflectivity and neutral appearance, ensures optimal benefit from natural light with 60% light transmittance, while maximizing solar heat gain with 28% total energy transmittance and creating a more comfortable interior environment, thus providing sustainable, low-energy cooling costs.
Among its net advantages are extraordinary selectivity, sustainable minimum carbon dioxide emissions and availability as glass for security or acoustic applications, while providing a U-value of 1.0 W/m²K when used in standard double-glazing units, delivering the highest level of thermal insulation.
Chief Architect Gökhan Aktan Altuğ, emphasizing that within the scope of the Iconova project the architectural element of glass façades must also contribute to the interior-exterior unity that building users greatly value in their daily lives in the Antep region, states that the most ideal product meeting all the criteria sought in the project is Guardian SunGuard® SNX 60/28: "Guardian's architectural glass products expand the limits of what we can do. While delivering the effect we seek, they make it easier for us to create the conditions we want in the space. They have products that allow us to compromise neither on comfort nor aesthetics. We benefit from being able to combine light, heat and sound transmittance values in many different ways, tailored to the situation. Particularly in low solar factor glasses, being able to use transparent glass while making the same glass colour appear from outside is a major gain for us. The conditions of the geography where the Iconova project is located have increased the measures we need to take in the building envelope to ensure interior comfort. In tower blocks of high building status, the glass surfaces that have become almost the background of the design needed to have the technology to meet these requirements and had to be in harmony in colour and reflection with the white precast parapets. The architectural element that needed to contribute to the interior-exterior unity that building users greatly value in their daily lives in the Antep region was the glass façades. The product selected from Guardian Glass met all these criteria at the maximum level."Advertisement
