Export Compass sets course for Argentina

The Turkish Exporters Assembly's (TİM) "Export Compass" event series, organized with the support of Coface to introduce target markets more closely to exporting companies, continues in 2018. Following Côte d'Ivoire, Brazil and Malaysia, the fourth meeting of the year addressed the Argentine market in all its aspects. At the opening remarks of the panel discussing Argentina's business culture and important considerations about the country, TİM Secretary General Dr. Halil Bader Arslan briefed exporters on İnovalig, İnosuit and the Export Information Platform, services provided by TİM to exporters. Arslan noted that participation in İnovalig, which serves as a guide for companies, reached 971 last year, and stated that they aim for application numbers in four digits this year. Explaining that the İnosuit project is a consulting service and that feedback from participating companies has been very positive, Bader Arslan also provided information to participants about the Export Information Platform website, which will open shortly.

Foreign trade balance in Argentina's favor

Speaking at the event, Consul General of the Argentine Republic in Istanbul Diego Alvarez Rivera provided general information about the Argentine economy. Rivera stated that Argentina exports USD 58 billion annually and imports USD 64 billion, noting that they import USD 112 million from Turkey and export USD 342 million to Turkey. In his remarks, the Consul General said: "Argentina is the country with the highest education level among workers in Latin America. Particularly in terms of English-speaking rates, it ranks first in Latin America. We are among the world's largest food exporters. Foreign investors wishing to do business in Argentina can obtain detailed information from our Argentine Investment Agency website."

Points to note for Turkish exporters in Argentina

In the panel moderated by TİM R&D Director Nevsal Zülküf Alhas, T.C. Ministry of Economy Buenos Aires Former Trade Advisor Müge Helvacıoğlu discussed matters requiring attention regarding Argentina. Coface Commercial Group Deputy General Manager Ali Gençtürk touched upon Coface's services in trade with Argentina, while in the success stories section, Kubilya Gedikli from Yüksel Seramik shared their experiences, opportunities and challenges encountered in Argentina.
