ITO Fixes Exchange Rate for Fair Participation

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has fixed the dollar at TRY 4 and the euro at TRY 4.8 for participation in global trade fairs offering new markets and business cooperation opportunities. The ICC plans to introduce entrepreneurs to 14 different trade fairs by year-end, spanning from the United States to China, India to Argentina. Companies can exhibit and promote their products at fairs where the ICC organises national participation or sectoral trade delegations. Among the fairs for which the ICC is continuing preparations are ASD Market Week 2018, MWC Mobile World Congress Americas, SIAL Food India, Frankfurt Book Fair, MIPCOM 2018, 124th Canton Fair Phase 1, SIAL Food and Beverage Fair, 124th Canton Fair Phase 3, Canton Fair, AUTOMECHANIKA Buenos Aires, DISCOP 2018, SIAL Interfood 2018, BAUMA China 2018, ATF Asia TV Forum & Market, and SIAL Middle East 2018. Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Chairman Şekib Avdagiç said on the decision to fix the exchange rate for fair participation: "Our exporters will know in advance how much they will pay at a fair they will attend one month later, and will focus more on production." Avdagiç stated: "Previously, we said that the Central Bank's interest rate hike measure should absolutely not be left unsupported, and we pointed out that protecting the Turkish lira is a national duty. We have also taken a new decision that will support the Central Bank's fixing of the exchange rate in export rediscount credit payments. As the ICC Board of Management, by reflecting our confidence in our economy to our real sector, we have fixed the exchange rate for our companies' participation in global trade fairs with the ICC. We believe that our companies wishing to present their products on international platforms will thus have gained a new opportunity."
