Kimpur, 2023 Integrated Report

Kimpur, Türkiye's fully domestically capitalized polyurethane systems manufacturer, has published its 2023 Integrated Report. The Integrated Report, which sheds light on Kimpur's investments for a sustainable future and its future targets, revealed that the company maintained its sustainability-focused approach and continued its investments last year as well.

Kimpur, a 100% Turkish-owned polyurethane systems manufacturer, has released its 2023 Integrated Report. The Integrated Report, which highlights Kimpur's investments for a sustainable future and forward-looking targets, demonstrates that the company continued its sustainability-focused approach throughout the past year and maintained its investment momentum.

Kimpur, which has been regularly publishing reports annually since 2020 to share its activities in the environmental, social and governance areas transparently with stakeholders, released its 2023 Integrated Report this year as well. Prepared in accordance with the integrated reporting criteria of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), the Integrated Report shares the company's sustainability progress and future targets on an annual basis. Kimpur's 2023 Integrated Report covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2023 and sheds light on the investments Kimpur has made for a sustainable future and its future targets. Kimpur CEO Cavidan Karaca stated, "Our 2023 Integrated Report reflects the progress we have made in sustainability and innovation and our commitment to the future. We are working with all our might to contribute to a sustainable future, and we carried out this year's activities from the perspective of 'Transformation for a Sustainable Future'. In line with the priorities we have set—climate crisis and carbon management, sustainable product management, employee rights, sustainable growth, innovation and technology, and supply chain management—we have created our Climate Change Roadmap with short, medium and long-term targets. We are proud to share our strategies that support economic growth while fulfilling our environmental and social responsibilities with our stakeholders."

Aiming to become one of the world's top 10 polyurethane systems houses

Kimpur announced that it has continued to grow with its high value-added product portfolio, strong export performance and sustainability-focused approach, raising its total assets to approximately TRY 9 billion. According to the 2022 year-end results, it rose 112 positions in Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters List and ranked among the top 500 exporting companies. Additionally, it continued its ascent on Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises (ISO 500) list, reaching 204th place. According to this year's results, Kimpur ranked 443rd in Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters List and 188th in the ISO 500 list.

Among the member companies of the Istanbul Chemical Materials and Products Exporters Association, it became the export record holder polyurethane systems house in the Plastic Raw Materials Export Category. With the Ravago Petrochemicals collaboration announced in recent months, the company aims to reach polyurethane capacity exceeding 220,000 tonnes by putting the additional 85 Kt production capacity at its Düzce facility into operation in the first quarter of 2025, and to become one of the world's top 10 polyurethane systems houses with the largest production capacity.

Targeting a 33% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030

Kimpur completed the installation of a solar power plant at its Gebze facility in 2022 and aims to meet 20% of electricity consumption at this facility from renewable energy. In 2023, it also completed the installation of a solar power plant at its Düzce facility. Through this, the company aims to meet approximately 55% of its annual electricity consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 679 tonnes per year. Kimpur Marketing and Sustainability Director Derya Esnaf noted that they continue to accelerate sustainable transformation projects and stated, "Within the scope of our 2030 Climate Change Roadmap, we primarily aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 33% by 2030. We are making efforts to minimize our environmental impacts through energy efficiency projects and renewable energy use. Despite a 28% increase in our production volume with the commissioning of our Düzce facility in 2023, we managed to keep our unit carbon footprint constant. Additionally, we aim to increase the use of recycled and bio-based raw materials in our products and to use 25% bio or recycled content in all our product groups by 2030. We have completed the infrastructure work for lifecycle assessments of our products. We plan to complete the product lifecycle assessments of all our products by 2025. We will continue to accelerate our efforts to increase our contributions to the environment and society."

Kimpur entered the BIST Sustainability Index

The company's sustainability-focused approach was also reflected in the indices of independent assessment organizations. Kimpur ranked 104th with a score of 70 in a study conducted by international sustainability rating company Refinitiv based on 500 publicly listed chemical companies worldwide. With this result, it succeeded in entering the BIST Sustainability Index, which consists of companies listed on the stock exchange in Turkey, and became the only domestic polyurethane systems house on this list.

Kimpur increased its collaborations on sustainable projects. In the past year, it conducted joint studies with universities for European Horizon projects, Eurostar projects, and SAYEM Green Transformation projects. By developing its green product range, it introduced 6 new environmentally friendly systems to the sector, including bio-based products in its portfolio.

We aim to play an active role for gender equality

Kimpur CEO Cavidan Karaca noted that in addition to their environmental contributions, they also aim to provide social benefits to society, stating, "We always prioritize the rights, health and safety of our employees. We believe that effective results can only be achieved with employees who are experts in their field and motivated. We became signatories of the Women's Empowerment Principles to support the advancement of women in working life and to play an active role for gender equality. Beyond committing to WEPs principles, we implement these principles in every area of our business. While we continuously strive to increase the proportion of female employees, we also support their participation in our management team. In addition, we make efforts to provide benefits to society. In the 6 February earthquakes that struck our entire country in 2023, we have been working to provide support to the region from the first day. As has been the case until now, we will continue to stand by our country in the future."
