Chemical Industry Boosts Exports by 19% in July

According to data from Turkey's Exporters Association (TİM), Turkey's exports in July increased by 13.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 22.5 billion and setting a July record. The chemical sector was the second-largest exporting sector in July with USD 2.6 billion in exports. The sector's exports showed a 19.4% increase compared to July of the previous year.
Commenting on the July export figures for the chemical sector, İKMİB Board Chair Adil Pelister stated: "In July, our chemical sector achieved USD 2.6 billion in exports, maintaining its position as the second-largest exporting sector among all sectors. Our sector managed to increase its July exports by over 19%. Thus, our exports for the first seven months reached USD 18.4 billion. We will continue to work with all our efforts to ensure that our monthly export growth performance continues in the remaining period."
July exports led by "plastics and plastic products"
In July, among chemical products and manufactures product groups, plastics and plastic products exports ranked first in chemical exports with USD 869,926,000. In second place with USD 512,133,000 in exports was mineral fuels and products while inorganic chemicals exports ranked third with USD 240,217,000. Following inorganic chemicals, the other sectors in the top ten are: essential oils, cosmetics and soaps, paints, varnishes, inks and preparations, rubber and rubber products, pharmaceutical products, miscellaneous chemical products, washing preparations and organic chemicals.
Netherlands was the top export destination in July
The Netherlands was the top export destination in July with USD 177 million. The top ten countries for exports in July were Netherlands, USA, Russia, Romania, Iraq, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Italy and United Kingdom. Among the top 10 countries in July, the highest growth was 157.57% in Egypt.
