L'Oréal Turkey's "For Women in Science" programme, run in cooperation with UNESCO Turkey National Commission to support gender equality in science and strengthen women's contributions to scientific advancement, is being held for the 23rd time this year.
The programme, with applications opening on 31 January and running until 2 June, aims to increase the visibility of young and talented women scientists and support their innovative projects. Four young women scientists who will shape the future of scientific research, through their original work and inspiring projects, will be eligible to receive project support valued at TRY 300,000 each.
L'Oréal Turkey, advocating for gender equality in science, is launching the "For Women in Science" programme in cooperation with UNESCO Turkey National Commission to support young women scientists and give more women's voices a platform in the scientific world. Applications open on 31 January. The project, created to support young and talented women scientists and make their work more visible while promoting women's contributions to science, will accept applications until 2 June.
Under the "For Women in Science" programme, four young and talented women scientists will receive project support valued at TRY 300,000 each to use in their scientific research. Women scientists under 40 years of age working in "Life and Environmental Sciences" and "Physical Sciences" with original scientific projects wishing to apply can submit their applications online through the L'Oréal Turkey 2025 Call for Application | For Women in Science platform within the specified period. Applications will be evaluated by an independent UNESCO Turkey National Commission Science Jury.
One of Turkey's Longest-Running Corporate Social Responsibility Projects
The For Women in Science programme, being held for the 23rd time this year, stands out as one of Turkey's longest-running corporate social responsibility projects. For 22 years, young and talented women scientists distinguished by their contributions to the scientific world have been recognized with awards and provided with financial support for their research. Award-winning projects are evaluated by a jury composed of UNESCO-affiliated scientists according to criteria including academic achievement, the contribution of research to science, applicability, sustainability and innovative approaches.
L'Oréal Turkey has recognized 124 women scientists over 22 years
L'Oréal Turkey, a beauty technology giant ranked among the top 5 countries globally in supporting this programme, continues to demonstrate the visibility women deserve in science by recognizing a total of 124 women scientists over 22 years. Of the total 640 Nobel science prizes awarded since 1901 in physics, chemistry, physiology and medicine, only 26 have been awarded to women, and 7 of these 26 women were also recognized by the L'Oréal Group. The awards presented by L'Oréal Turkey provide strong support for Turkish women scientists to achieve similar accomplishments. L'Oréal Turkey continues to conduct comprehensive efforts to ensure the sustainability of the "For Women in Science" programme run in cooperation with UNESCO Turkey National Commission and to reach more women scientists each year.
