L'Oréal Türkiye and UNESCO Provide Strong Support to Women Scientists in 24th Year
L'Oréal Türkiye, which centers its approach on the idea that "the world needs science, and science needs women," is opening a new application period for the "For Women in Science" Programme, carried out in cooperation with the UNESCO Turkish National Commission, in its 24th year. Applications for the programme, which aims to support young women scientists' research and increase their visibility, will be accepted between 6 February and 1 June 2026. This year, 4 women scientists selected under the programme will each receive project support worth TRY 400,000 to use in their scientific work. Having reached 128 women scientists over 23 years, the programme will continue to strengthen the visibility of women in science in its 24th year.

L'Oréal Turkey's "For Women in Science" Program, carried out in collaboration with UNESCO Turkey National Commission, is being implemented for the 24th time to strengthen gender equality in science and make visible women's contributions to science. One of Turkey's longest-running corporate social responsibility programs, it continues to promote scientific excellence by supporting the original work of young and talented women scientists. Applications for the 24th cycle will be accepted between 6 February and 1 June 2026.
Under the "For Women in Science" Program, 4 young women scientists selected this year will each receive project support valued at TRY 400,000 to use in their scientific research. Women scientists under 40 years of age working in the fields of "Life and Environmental Sciences" and "Physical Sciences" with original science projects may apply to the program. Candidates will submit their applications online via Turkey - National program | For Women in Science between the specified dates. Applications will be evaluated by an independent UNESCO Turkey National Commission Science Jury according to the criteria of academic competence, contribution to science, innovation, applicability and sustainability.

Concrete contribution against the "leaky pipeline" problem in academia
According to YÖK data, while the proportion of women research assistants in Turkey is 55%, this ratio drops to 35% at the professor level. In contrast, the majority of women scientists supported under the "For Women in Science" Program continue to advance to senior positions in academia and contribute to science, which demonstrates the program's long-term impact.
