Machinery Sector Unites Under MAKFED Umbrella

MAKFED Holds Second Ordinary General Assembly

MAKFED, the peak organization of the machinery sector, held its 2nd Ordinary General Assembly in Ankara with the participation of 17 member associations. Adnan Dalgakıran was re-elected as chair of the federation, which aims to play an active role in shaping all policies and practices related to machinery manufacturing industry. Speaking at the General Assembly and emphasizing the importance of the machinery sector moving forward with a target-oriented strategy, Dalgakıran said: "When mapping out a sector's roadmap, it is necessary to start by conducting a situation analysis and always keeping critical thinking at the forefront. We believe that identifying problematic areas and adopting a solution-oriented approach are the first steps. Turkey can move into the upper-income group through a breakthrough in machinery, electronics and software. As MAKFED, we will continue working toward these goals by prioritizing organization and cooperation." Stressing that the federation will be more effective in the new period, Dalgakıran emphasized that their objective is the institutionalization of the sector, noting: "The priorities of countries in the upper-income group are to achieve productivity and economies of scale. Turkey's economic objective should not be to try to increase the number of entrepreneurs, but to boost the competitiveness of strategic sectors by training qualified technical personnel. The machinery sector will henceforth be more competitive, distinctive and innovative, and will focus on increasing brand strength. MAKFED will continue working on solutions tailored to the sector's needs through its target-oriented activities." The federation represents approximately 1,700 machinery manufacturers. Providing information about the federation's activities at the General Assembly, MAKFED Board Vice Chair Kutlu Karavelioğlu noted that they had established a structure based on participation and sharing, stating: "As the result of nearly 10 years of work, MAKFED, with which we have integrated under one roof with the participation of 17 associations covering much of the machinery sector, has accomplished significant work in a short time. During this period, when we also represented our sector at ORGALIME, we contributed to the creation of the machinery sector's roadmap through the reports we published. With the contributions of our member associations representing approximately 1,700 of the largest companies in their respective segments from 20 subsectors, we have further strengthened our federation. We are aware of the need for qualified technical personnel in the manufacturing industry, and we will accelerate our work to establish MAKFED ACADEMY to address the training needs of our sector's workforce." Federation membership rises to 17 MAKFED's member count increased to 17 with the participation of the Wood Processing Machinery and Related Industries Business Association (AIMSAD).
