METYX Group Announces Growth Plans for Technical Fabric Production for the Global Composites Industry

METYX Group has signed a major agreement with German technical textiles machinery manufacturer Karl Mayer, a technology supplier for approximately 25 years, to establish new production lines that will provide an additional 12,000 tons of glass and carbon fiber fabric weaving capacity. The new capacity will both increase the production volume of the Manisa facility in Turkey and lay the foundation for overseas production facilities as part of a multinational strategic growth plan. Uğur Üstünel, Managing Partner of METYX Composites, stated, "The recent growth of our technical fabrics division and the successful capability certifications we have achieved with our global key customers producing composite wind turbine blades gave us the confidence to place multiple machine orders with Karl Mayer." For METYX Group, which has made significant investments in recent years as part of a long-term plan for the production of technical textiles and composite-related products, the wind energy sector is a key strategic market. The growth of the Manisa facility in Turkey is enabled by both the neighboring land acquired in 2016 and the existing factory premises, which provide sufficient space for increasing multi-axis fabric production lines, expanding warehouse, kit and mold production areas, and raising production volumes. With this latest investment in composite technical fabrics, METYX Group will fully meet customer needs regarding the requirement for wind energy customers to source products from local suppliers in local market production in accordance with upcoming changes to national regulations in Turkey.
