Pekintaş Group and ARRAY Join Forces for Karaman Solar Power Plant Project

Another important step has been taken in Türkiye's energy transition. Pekintaş Group has signed a cooperation agreement with ARRAY Technologies, a global player in solar tracking technologies, for a 260 MW solar power plant (SPP) project to be built in Karaman.

The agreement was announced through a signing ceremony held during the SolarEX Istanbul Fair, which took place between 8-10 April.

Strategic investment under YEKA
The project is being implemented under Turkey's Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) programme, and stands out with its structure supporting domestic production and technology transfer. The investment, which marks ARRAY Technologies' first project in Turkey under YEKA, is regarded as an important benchmark in the sector.

In this project, a Pekintaş Holding investment, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) processes will be conducted by SPI Enerji, the company's affiliate. ARRAY technology will be integrated into the field through Value-Added Partner STC Solar.

Domestic production and advanced technology combined
While domestic production contribution is being provided in the solar panels used in the project, cell technology will be sourced from Pekintaş Group's P-Tech facility in Düzce. The project, which will utilise high-efficiency N-type TOPCon Plus cells, stands out as an example of domestic production capability meeting advanced technology.

Terrain-adaptive system delivers high efficiency
The solar power plant to be built in Karaman will use ARRAY's OmniTrack tracking system, which adapts to terrain. The system aims to reduce site preparation requirements and optimise costs by following the natural terrain structure.

The project will also deploy software and control-based SmarTrack system aimed at increasing energy generation.

"Will become a strong benchmark in domestic production"
Pekintaş Group Board Chairman Özhan Olcay noted that the project provides a sustainable response to Turkey's growing energy needs, stating:

"We are combining our production capacity and engineering competence with strong project management. This facility will be among the first projects operating with high-efficiency TOPCon Plus cells under YEKA and will establish an important benchmark in domestic production."

"Long-term performance is the target"
ARRAY President and COO Neil Manning noted that the project will demonstrate the performance of advanced solar tracking technologies under different site conditions.

Manning said: "We are pleased to be part of this project being implemented in Turkey. With our advanced technology, we aim to increase energy generation efficiency and ensure long-term reliability."
