Lifetime Achievement Award for Women's Leadership Presented to Rüya Bayegan

BGN Grup CEO Rüya Bayegan has been recognised with the New Silk Road Lifetime Achievement Award for her efforts to advance female leadership in international energy markets.

The award was presented on 1 October 2024 at the Gulf Intelligence Energy Markets Forum held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, by Ahmad Bin Thalith, CEO of ADNOC Trading.

The international selection committee awarded the prize to Rüya Bayegan for her "leading strategies in global energy markets and innovative management approach".

This prestigious award is given annually to strong global leaders who contribute to the transformation of energy and trade routes in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Rüya Bayegan has made history as the first recipient of this new lifetime achievement award.

Previous award recipients include Arif Mahmood, former senior executive at Petronas, Thomas Waymel, head of the trading division at TotalEnergies, and Sultan Al-Jaber, CEO of ADNOC Group in the UAE.

Rüya Bayegan's Track Record and Vision

Rüya Bayegan's success stems not only from her strategic moves in energy trading but also from BGN's investments in low-carbon emission products.

Under Rüya Bayegan's leadership, the company has established one of the world's largest LPG trading divisions while investing in new trading areas such as LNG (liquefied natural gas) and SAF (sustainable aviation fuel), and developing carbon removal projects.

Most recently, the newly established midstream and upstream investment division of BGN Energy plans to invest in oil production as well as create significant renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Significance of the Fujairah Ceremony

The ARAMCO New Silk Road CEO of the Year Awards, established in 2019, honour leaders who make a difference in energy trading. Fujairah, with its strategic location at the intersection of Asia and the Middle East, holds both historical and contemporary importance in energy trading and emerged as a fitting location for the awards ceremony.

Rüya Bayegan's Exceptional Leadership

Under Rüya Bayegan's leadership, BGN has grown from a regional player into a global energy giant. Operating across 22 locations in strategic energy hubs such as Dubai, Geneva, Houston, London, Rotterdam and Singapore, BGN has reached a leading position on the global stage with nearly 750 employees.

Through her innovative vision and commitment to growth, Rüya Bayegan has transformed BGN into a significant global player. She also manages the construction process of more than 12 new vessels carrying transition fuels such as liquefied gas and ammonia, delivering them to where they are most needed and supporting BGN's expanding trading platform.

Concern for people has always been a priority for Rüya Bayegan. She has launched corporate social responsibility projects that look after the welfare of employees' families, make donations to hospitals and schools, and support earthquake relief. Additionally, she targets 50% of BGN's new hires to be women and supports the next generation of energy leaders.
