Together with in-kind donations, Şişecam's support reached TRY 225 million.
Following the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş that affected 10 provinces, Şişecam mobilized from day one to deliver aid to the region and help with recovery efforts.
Şişecam delivered 45 trucks containing technical and humanitarian assistance to the region in coordination with public institutions, and its Voluntary Emergency Response Team—SAVE continues working tirelessly for those affected through logistics and distribution support.
Beyond in-kind assistance exceeding TRY 25 million, Şişecam responded with material support of TRY 200 million in donations within the scope of cash aid provided by İş Bankası and its subsidiaries, and continues its efforts to develop long-term sustainable solutions in the region.
As part of the support it launched from the first day of the earthquake, Şişecam delivered 45 trucks to the region containing living containers, generators, tents, stoves, winter clothing and shoes, and technical and humanitarian aid. For those in need, it also handed over to relevant units 26 trucks of water, 4 trucks of milk, 3 trucks of bread and 1 truck of glass bottles for distribution.
Şişecam dispatched 7 pieces of heavy machinery to the region for use in search and rescue operations and supported the rescue of many lives through its Voluntary Emergency Response Team—SAVE. SAVE teams continue working in the field for logistics needs.
While Şişecam employees continue sending daily donations of food, hygiene and clothing items to the region, the company also took action on one of the most pressing needs—sanitation—and delivered 168 mobile toilets to the region.
Continuing daily support for housing, food, hygiene and clothing for its employees in the earthquake zone and their families, Şişecam prepared a guest house at its Mersin facility and a 200-person accommodation area at its Adana operation.
With total aid to the region reaching TRY 225 million to date including in-kind assistance, Şişecam continues working on long-term projects that can provide significant public-sector contributions to the region, including container and prefabricated housing construction to address the housing shortage that represents one of the most critical challenges facing earthquake survivors, as well as replacing schools destroyed in the disaster.
