Şişecam Completes Coated Glass Line Investment in Northern Italy

Şişecam successfully commissions new coated glass line with EUR 25 million investment at San Giorgio di Nogaro facility in northern Italy. The move will strengthen Şişecam's position in the European glass industry and increase the share of value-added glass products in its product portfolio.

Şişecam, a global player in the glass and chemicals sectors, has commissioned the new coated glass line in northern Italy that it announced in 2024 to meet rising demand for coated glass in the flat glass sector. With this new line, made possible through a EUR 25 million investment, Şişecam will increase its coated glass capacity in Italy from 6 million square meters to 12.5 million square meters. This move will further strengthen Şişecam's position in the European glass industry, enabling it to meet high-quality and specialized glass demand in the market.

Can Yücel, General Director of Şişecam, stated: "The coated glass line we have commissioned at our San Giorgio di Nogaro facility will enhance our production capacity while enriching our product portfolio. In this way, we will respond better to the growing demand for specialized glass in Europe and deliver our value-added products to our customers in Western Europe. Thanks to the increased coated architectural glass capacity we have built in Eastern and Western Europe, we will have improved our service quality and specialized product alternatives in the European market."

Coated glass line investments coming online
Şişecam had announced on 30 January 2026 that it completed a new coated glass line investment with annual capacity of 6 million square meters at its flat glass production facility in Bulgaria, in addition to the coated glass line already there. With the coated glass line of 7 million square meters annual capacity that Şişecam will commission in Tarsus this year, following Italy, the number of coated glass lines worldwide will increase to seven, and total coated glass production capacity will reach 48.1 million square meters.
