TİKAV and Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji Provide Health Training to 1,500 Women in 17 Rural Areas

The "Health First" project, led by the Turkey Human Resources Training and Health Foundation (TİKAV) established by Akfen Holding and implemented within Akfen Renewable Energy, has been completed. The project targeted women living in rural areas where 17 power plants operated by the company are located. Through the award-winning project, 1,500 women from 17 different village locations were provided with applied seminars on first aid, basic health, cancer screening, women's health and organ donation in 2018. Entering its third year, the project will focus on hygiene education for women living in 26 different rural areas in 2019. Within the training program organized in Amasya, Giresun, Kayseri, Sakarya, Erzurum, Mersin, Sivas, Muğla, Aydın, Elazığ, Tokat, Trabzon, Konya and Denizli, women received information and certificates on first aid, basic health, cancer screening, examination routines, women's health and organ donation. TİKAV Board Chair Sultan Yılmaz stated that they organize training on different topics each year, and through this initiative they aim to raise awareness among women, who form the foundation of the family, on various subjects. Yılmaz noted that the award-winning "Health First" project often plays a life-saving role in first aid, early diagnosis and treatment, and said: "Our goal is to bring these trainings to women living especially in rural areas and to improve their quality of life. Creating awareness on this subject among all family members becomes possible through the education of women. By year-end, we reached at least 1,500 women in 17 different regions and touched their lives."
