TİM and EİB Meet to Discuss Sectoral Issues

TIM and EIB Come Together on Sectoral Issues Problems in agriculture and industry sectors were discussed at the Aegean Region Export Assessment Meeting hosted by Aegean Exporters' Associations, with the participation of TIM Chairman İsmail Gülle and Union Presidents. Turkish Exporters Council (TIM) Chairman İsmail Gülle said: "As of July, we have exceeded 200 billion dollars in exports over the last 12 months. Without doubt, our Aegean Exporters' Association members have made an important contribution to this success. While Aegean Exporters' Association exports have increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year since the beginning of the year, reaching 8.5 billion dollars, exports in the last 12-month period reached 15 billion dollars. On the path to reaching Turkey as a Net Foreign Trade Surplus Provider, each of our sectors, each of our companies and each of our products has individual importance," he said.

EIB Revises 2021 Target Upward

Aegean Exporters' Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi said: "In a period when the effects of the pandemic continue globally, we have achieved a historic success by exceeding 15 billion dollars in annual exports. We have updated our target upward to 16 billion dollars for the end of 2021. During the pandemic period, we organized Turkey's first virtual trade fairs and sectoral trade delegations. Our marketing activities continued without any interruption. In addition to virtual marketing activities, our URGE Projects and TURQUALITY Projects are running at full capacity. We are targeting 18 billion dollars in exports for 2022," he said. Eskinazi also noted that Turkey is among the world's leading countries in the "Renewable Energy" sector, which is becoming increasingly important. "The Aegean Region is rapidly advancing as an important production and export hub in renewable energy. For this reason, establishing a specialized exporters' association for 'Renewable Energy' equipment under the EIB umbrella would be a very sound decision. Exporting companies in these sectors are increasingly voicing their demands for representation within EIB. We want to increase investments and incentives for renewable energy sources and increase Turkey's share in total electricity generation. Inexhaustible, inexpensive, reliable, environmentally friendly, domestic and renewable energy sources should be our priority. The sustainable production and consumption of energy is the future for all of us."
