Turkish Natural Stone Exporters Return from Mexico with New Trade Contacts
The Ege Maden İhracatçıları Birliği (EMİB), Türkiye's leader in natural stone exports, held key meetings in Mexico, the second-largest economy in Latin America, as part of efforts to reach a USD 2.5 billion export target in the natural stone sector.
Ege Maden İhracatçıları Birliği (EMİB), which leads Turkey's natural stone exports, held significant meetings in Mexico, Latin America's second-largest economy, to reach a 2.5 billion dollar export target in the natural stone sector.
Under the Sectoral Trade Delegation program organized by EMİB between 23–28 November 2025, 12 natural stone exporters from Turkey met with 20 importing companies in Mexico. The program resulted in over 100 bilateral business meetings.
Ege Maden İhracatçıları Birliği President İbrahim Alimoğlu noted that each Turkish company held at least nine business meetings, emphasizing strengthened business partnerships toward the Mexican market. Alimoğlu described Mexico as a strategic trade hub opening to both North and South America due to its geographical position, and stated:
"Mexico's construction sector is growing particularly through luxury housing, hotels and commercial projects. The increase in natural stone usage creates significant opportunities for Turkey's natural stone sector. During the delegation, product samples, pricing structures, logistics options and potential partnerships were discussed in detail. We expect orders to increase in the near term. Our belief that Turkey's Mexican natural stone exports, which totaled 4 million dollars in January–October 2025, will reach 50 million dollars in the medium term has been reinforced. Our marketing efforts toward Mexico will continue in 2026 and beyond, in line with our Trade Ministry's Distant Countries Strategy."
Alongside bilateral meetings, delegation members visited leading Mexican natural stone importers including Comercializadora de Piedras Naturales, Grupo Tenerife, Onice (Onyx), Mármoles Maga, Mármoles Travertino, Mármoles Puerte and Everstone, obtaining comprehensive market information.
World Miners' Day Observed on 4 December
EMİB President İbrahim Alimoğlu, marking World Miners' Day on 4 December, shared the following message:
"Of the 90 minerals found worldwide, 70 are in our country. Through manual labor and hard work, protecting the environment and bringing to light the treasures hidden by nature; the silent and brave workers of the underground and surface world who add value to every aspect of our lives... Your labor is our future. Happy World Miners' Day on 4 December."
