Türk Henkel's Leave Your Mark Project Reaches Children in Izmir This Year...
Türk Henkel, operating according to the principle of "Leadership in Good for Future Generations" and placing sustainability at the core of its activities, is implementing the "Leave Your Mark" project in Izmir this year, which aims to create environmental and nature awareness in children at an early age. Carried out in collaboration with İhtiyaç Haritası, the project continues its journey with the vision of introducing sustainability awareness to children in different cities of Turkey. Last year, the project reached children living in container housing units in Hatay, and gains particular significance by being implemented in Izmir following major forest fires that damaged 30,000 hectares in the region.
Workshops Strengthening Sustainability Awareness...
Under the project scope, children will participate in free workshops that support them in gaining environmental awareness and learning ways to protect nature. For example, in the "Sustainability Heroes" workshop, activities focused on recycling practices and new product designs from waste will be conducted to develop environmental awareness and reuse consciousness in children. In the "Nature Love Drama" workshop, activities will be implemented to support children in building empathy with nature through storytelling and drama work. In the "Nature Protectors Design" workshop and seed ball activity, poster and model work will be conducted to help children reinforce their nature protection awareness through practical experiences. In addition to the workshops, a field activity called "My Seedling, My Future" will be organized with the participation of all children. Children will plant their own seedlings and introduce the seed balls they prepared in the workshops to nature.
Türk Henkel's Leave Your Mark project will be implemented at the İzmir Konak Municipality Toros Social Facility. Children from areas affected by the fire in Karabağlar, Seferihisar and Menderes will also be given access to the workshops and activities. The project aims to reach more than 200 children aged 8–12 during the training period, which will be delivered by specialized educators. Through the project, contributions to the reforestation process in the region following the fire, strengthening children's bonds with nature, and supporting sustainability awareness are intended.
