Turkish Exporters Set Sights on South America

Turkish exporters are preparing to enter Brazil and Chile, South America's two largest economies, as part of the Ministry of Trade's Far Countries Strategy.

Turkish exporters are preparing shipments to Brazil and Chile, South America's two largest economies, under the Ministry of Commerce's Far Markets Strategy.

Through a trade mission organized by the Ministry of Commerce Coordination, Turkish Exporters Assembly, and Aegean Exporters Associations on 16–21 November 2025, Turkish companies will hold one-on-one meetings with importers in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile.

Brazil trade goal: reducing the deficit
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of Aegean Exporters Associations, highlighted that Brazil and Chile are the region's two largest markets with a combined population of 235 million and a gross domestic product of USD 2.5 trillion, providing the following information:

"While Turkey's exports to Brazil remain at the USD 1 billion level, our imports reach USD 3.9 billion. This means a trade deficit of approximately USD 3 billion. Our goal is to achieve a more balanced trade structure by increasing our exports to Brazil. Through such organizations and cooperation with professional associations in these countries, we aim to increase trade volume."

Chile trade volume target: USD 1 billion
Eskinazi recalled that Turkey achieved USD 360 million in exports and USD 123 million in imports to Chile in 2024, stating: "We had a trade volume of USD 978 million with Chile by the end of 2021. We aim to stop the trade bleeding with Chile and maintain our advantageous position while pushing trade volume above USD 1 billion. We expect strong participation from our exporters in this trade mission, which is open to all sectors."
