COVID-19 pandemic response has seen intensive care ventilators produced domestically by Turkish engineers using local resources. Domestic ventilators will be manufactured at a rate of 5,000 units per month by the end of May. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also stated that once medication for COVID-19 is developed, significantly different measures will be taken. Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank and Health Minister Fahrettin Koca met with Turkish engineers manufacturing ventilators. Minister Varank handed over the devices to Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, noting that ventilators are among the most critical needs in the COVID-19 pandemic, and stated that the Health Ministry's inventory is very robust in terms of ventilators. Speaking about ventilators, Varank said: "Our domestic companies launched a nationwide mobilization effort to rapidly convert these projects into serial production. Dozens of engineers came together, working around the clock and, with great dedication, in just 14 days withdrew the first domestic intensive care ventilators from the production line."     Source: Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology
