"Results of Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises-2017 Survey Announced"

The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO) announced the results of its "Turkey's 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises-2017" research, which has been conducted continuously since 1968 and produces the most valuable data for the sector.

According to the "Turkey's 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises" research announced by İSO Management Board Chairman Erdal Bahçıvan at the press conference, TÜPRAŞ once again topped the industrial sector in 2017 with production sales of TRY 51.1 billion.

TÜPRAŞ, which accounted for 6.7% of İSO 500's production sales in 2016, increased this share to 7.8% in 2017. Ford Otomotiv maintained second place with production sales of TRY 22.7 billion, while third place went to Toyota Otomotiv with production sales of TRY 17.8 billion, up three positions compared to 2016.

According to the research, which is significant for revealing the current state and challenges of the real economy, İSO 500's production sales grew 33.2% in 2017, rising from TRY 490 billion to TRY 653 billion, demonstrating strong growth performance.

The weak growth in İSO 500's production sales observed over the past three years was replaced by real growth at a rate of 19% in 2017.

In addition to growth in domestic and foreign demand, the increase in exchange rates affecting export revenues played a role in the sales growth. The realized growth rate stood out as the highest growth in İSO 500 over the past 13 years.

İSO 500's exports also grew 17%, rising to USD 64.5 billion. Performing above Turkey's export growth rate, İSO 500 accounted for 41.1% of Turkey's exports and 42.8% of industrial exports in 2017.

The share of the top 10 companies in İSO 500 Büyük, which predominantly consist of automotive and steel companies, from total production sales increased from 25% in 2016 to 26.7% in 2017.
