UR-GE Boosts High Value-Added Exports in the Chemical Sector

High-Value Exports in the Chemical Sector with UR-GE Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) conducted the "High-Value Exports in the Chemical Sector with UR-GE" project, bringing together Bursa chemical sector representatives for business collaboration with Russian companies in Moscow. BTSO continues efforts to prepare its members for global competition and open doors to foreign markets. Within the framework of the "High-Value Exports in the Chemical Sector with UR-GE" project, carried out by BTSO with support from the Ministry of Commerce, a 29-person BTSO delegation conducted overseas marketing activities in Russia's capital, Moscow. The program was attended by 66 Russian business people from 49 companies. Bursa-based firms held approximately 120 business meetings at the event, establishing important contacts for entry into the Russian market. Moscow Trade Counselors Ömer Kerman and Ersan Volkan Demirel also visited the event and engaged closely with the participating firms.

"Chemical sector racing toward export championship"

BTSO Chemistry Council Chairman and Board Member İlker Duran stated that they are working to increase the chemical sector's contribution to production and exports. Noting that the chemical sector achieved USD 30.7 billion in exports during the first 11 months of the year, Duran said, "In Bursa, our sector representatives succeeded in increasing exports in the first 11 months of the year by 13 percent compared to the same period last year. Our chemical sector exports reached USD 721 million. As a city, we aim to contribute further to the success of our chemical sector, which is racing toward export championship. In this direction, we have organized an important event in Russia aimed at increasing the share our companies receive from the global market." he said. Stating that Russia is an important market for the chemical sector, Duran said, "We attach importance to greater presence of Bursa exporters in the Russian market. There is serious potential here. In Russia, which is already among the top 10 countries where we export the most, our UR-GE delegation conducted productive discussions. We hope that these discussions will be reflected in our trade figures in the coming period." he said.

"Russia is the right target market"

BTSO Board Member Ömer Tulga Gürsoy, who participated in the organization, said that the Russian market is the right target market for the chemical sector. Noting that thanks to the UR-GE project they had the opportunity to become familiar with the market, Gürsoy said, "At the B2B organization, we met many companies we could work with together. During our institutional visits, we also gained important information about trade with Russia. We hope this program will lead to strong partnerships." he said.
