Consider These Recommendations While Preparing for the New Year
# Things to Keep in Mind as You Prepare for the New Year
For all of us, December is a time to make new decisions. Wellness Expert and Chef Pelin Bozkurt Bilgiç is sharing her recommendations on this subject with us. She gives us tips for New Year preparations from the inside out and adds:
"For me, the New Year means new wishes, new goals, new desires, new expectations. How about you? I hear you saying yes. I have a few suggestions for you to enter the new year with good health and positive energy.
Many of our New Year traditions belong to a period when people calculated time according to nature's cycles. All these rituals have reached us with minor changes.
Based on what I do in my own home, let me remind you of some of them, you fill in the rest, and if you are interested, research the details:
* The New Year means leaving the old behind and welcoming the new. Sharing old or unused items with those in need makes me feel good and I believe it also cleanses the old energy accumulated in the house. Give away at least three things you have kept thinking you might need someday but have not used for at least a year. Make room for the new.
* I also maintain broken items during this period. Let us not enter the new year with the deficient energy of broken things.
* It is important to start the new year with a clean home. Deep cleaning will make you feel good.
* During this period you can carry red color more often on you for luck. I have a small red bracelet that I wear throughout December.
* Let the abundance of pomegranate spread throughout the home. I use it as decoration on my table and to add flavor to my meals. With the same logic, every food that multiplies from the whole, such as grapes, garlic, and figs, symbolizes abundance and we should make room for them at our table.
* The belief that sage draws bad energies around it and spreads good energy is very common. It is believed that burning sage, a mystical plant, and carrying it around the house wards off bad energies in the home. I even wave it over my family's heads so they have a good year.
* Laurel leaf is also believed to keep bad energies away and is burned as incense for the same purpose.
* Another food that symbolizes abundance and prosperity is lentil. Even if you do not prepare it as food on your New Year's table, you can put it in a bowl and leave it in a corner of your living room."
