Carsten Knobel Appointed as Henkel's New CEO
Henkel announced that Hans Van Bylen, the company's current Chief Executive Officer, will step down from the role for personal reasons. Bylen has held significant positions within the company for approximately 35 years, serving on the Board of Management for roughly 15 of those years and serving as CEO for the past 4 years.
Hans Van Bylen will hand over the CEO position to Carsten Knobel, effective 1 January 2020.
Carsten Knobel, who joined Henkel in 1995, has served on the Board of Management since 2012 and currently leads Finance, Procurement and Integrated Business Solutions. The successor to the CFO position will be announced at a later date.
Hans Van Bylen: "After nearly 35 years with Henkel, with my contract coming to an end next year, I have decided that the time has come for a change at the top of the company. For personal reasons, I have also decided to step down from my position as Chairman of the Board of Management.
I wish to thank all employees and all my colleagues on the Board of Management for their dedication and commitment throughout the years we have worked together, as well as all members serving on our audit committees for their support and advice.
At the same time, I am pleased that our Board of Management has appointed Carsten Knobel from within our ranks to continue as CEO following my departure. I am confident that Henkel will continue to progress successfully under Carsten Knobel's leadership." he said.
Carsten Knobel expressed his views as follows: "I am grateful for the confidence expressed through this appointment. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board of Management and our global team to shape the future of Henkel.
With our excellent employees, our brands and technologies, and our exciting innovations, as well as dynamic market conditions, we have the capabilities to enable sustainable profitable growth at an even higher level." he said.
