Interview with Can Polat, General Manager of Mep Teknik

Mep Teknik has been providing innovative solutions in the field of industrial paint facilities since 2001. In our interview, Mep Teknik General Manager Can Polat provided information about the company's areas of operation and the products they offer.

Could you briefly tell our readers about yourself and your professional background?

I was born in Istanbul. I completed my bachelor's degree at Aston Business School in England and my master's degree at IE Business School in Spain. Apart from my family company, while in England I established marketing departments for two separate brands at a Fortune 500 company. Later I worked in the Operations department at a technology firm in Spain. Before becoming General Manager at Mep Teknik, I was also Export Manager. Could you provide information about Mep Teknik's establishment process and areas of operation?

Our company was founded in Istanbul in 2001 by our founder Engin Polat. Our company was established with the aim of bringing the latest technologies in our sector to our country. Since 2006, we have been operating in our factory located in Çayırova / Gebze. Furthermore, since 2012 we have continued to serve other countries with our offices in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Moscow (Russia). After the loss of our founder Engin Polat at the end of 2020, I was elected General Manager. Our company has four different areas of operation: powder and wet coating systems, heat treatment furnaces, quality control equipment and masking products.

Could you provide information about the products and services offered by Mep Teknik? What sectors are among your target markets?

As Mep Teknik, with our infrared furnaces running on gas (natural gas and LPG) for powder and wet coating systems, we provide space and energy savings to our customers. Additionally, along with heat treatment furnaces, we produce suspension systems, hooks and similar products used in paint facilities, as well as special furnaces that clean improperly painted products. This method is the most environmentally sensitive and lowest operating cost alternative compared to other alternatives in the world. Furthermore, we also serve nearby customers to our headquarters with contract cleaning services. Finally, we offer our customers quality control equipment and masking products which are quality-enhancing elements in paint facilities. We import our quality control equipment with over 20 years of representation from Germany, Switzerland and other countries, and we produce most of our masking products in our own factory and supply them worldwide.

Could you provide information about Mep Teknik's domestic and international activities?

Our company's headquarters is located in Çayırova (Kocaeli), and with our sales offices in Bulgaria and Moscow, we actively offer our products and services to our customers in Europe, the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Could we learn about your work in innovation and R&D as Mep Teknik?

As Mep Teknik, we are working to make paint facilities more suitable for Industry 4.0. In connection with this, we have established a new R&D department in our factory. Additionally, we are working to develop and manufacture our other products in a more environmentally sensitive manner.
