Interview with Emin Kalıp, Founder of Prometal Galvano

In an interview conducted, Emin Kalıp, Founder and General Manager of Prometal Galvano, answered our questions and provided information about Prometal Galvano's operations. [caption id="attachment_120838" align="aligncenter"] Emin Kalıp[/caption]  

Could you provide information about Prometal Galvano's establishment process and the stages it has gone through to the present day? Could you inform us about the products, brands and services that Prometal Galvano offers particularly for the Coating and Surface Treatment sectors? Could you tell us about your domestic and international sales activities?

With the investment we made in 2004 aiming to provide services in Surface Treatment Technologies and Automatic Coating Facilities, we established the Prometal Galvano company. Initially, we focused on the production of large-volume chemical tanks such as anodizing, hot-dip galvanizing pre-treatment tanks. In 2008, we expanded our investment and moved to our current 2,000 square-meter production facility, after which we began focusing on the galvanizing sector and started placing emphasis on the design, production and installation of "Automatic Coating Facilities." During this period, we undertook various facility installations ranging from Alkaline Zinc and POP facilities to Anodizing, Nickel+Chrome coating, and special processes for the aerospace sector. Particularly through our surface treatment projects in Uzbekistan, Canada, the United States, Greece and Bulgaria, we gained considerable experience in providing services abroad. Through our experienced and dedicated team that has gained experience in the field; we continue to serve many different sectors, from automotive to defense industry, fasteners to aluminum profile manufacturers, jewelry to refining, furniture to accessories, and white goods. Additionally, the difficulties we experienced in the supply chain due to third parties in different periods, along with ventilation systems—an indispensable part of galvanizing facilities and of great importance in terms of occupational health and safety—flue gas treatment (scrubber) and radial fan manufacturing required us to focus on these areas. At this point, by acquiring the production equipment of a company in Europe that had not been transferred to the third generation, we began manufacturing "high-pressure thermoplastic radial fans" up to 60,000 m3/h capacity and aimed to resolve our customer difficulties arising from third parties and achieve standardization in our service quality.

What kind of work do you conduct in the areas of innovation and R&D at Prometal Galvano? Do you have projects developed under university-industry cooperation, and if so, what are they?

Our design team, taking into account previous projects and customer feedback, continuously carries out improvement studies from mechanical, lifespan and energy efficiency perspectives, working on each project specifically, and the resulting outcomes are implemented in the field once the necessary tests and trials are completed. In terms of university-industry cooperation, we have not yet developed a project, and we hope to address this gap in the coming period.

Could you provide information about Prometal Galvano's environmental policy and sustainability approach? What can you tell us about your work related to occupational health and safety?

This issue is increasingly gaining importance today, and we are aware of our responsibilities and are improving our structure in this direction. In our production process and waste policy, we have completed our contracts with relevant organizations regarding the recycling and reintroduction of all materials used into the circular economy. We make efforts to keep the number of personnel in contact to a minimum through different groupings conducted with consideration for current pandemic conditions during our colleagues' working, break and end-of-work hours. We monitor processes through general occupational safety training received from our partner companies.

What criteria are prioritized when formulating Prometal Galvano's investment plans? Does Prometal Galvano have investment plans for the coming periods, and if so, what are they?

Given the nature of the sector we operate in, we serve many different projects and industries. Each new project creates new ideas for us in terms of investment. When evaluating, industrial zones that allow us easy access to Anatolia and different economic regions, have the necessary infrastructure to expand our growth targets and offer advantages in terms of access to labor stand out for us. Within our five-year plan, we aim to implement our new investment plan.
