Akcoat Receives Award from Spain Akcoat, a manufacturer of chemical coating materials, added another achievement to its successes in 2022. The company returned from the Alfa De Oro awards ceremony held in Spain with first place in the "Innovation" category. The "LessBox, Sustainable Packaging for Inkjet Ceramic Inks" project that earned Akcoat the award is a world first. Akcoat, which has production facilities in Turkey and Spain, achieved first place at Alfa De Oro, one of the ceramic industry's most prestigious awards. At the ceremony held in Valencia, Spain, the company was recognized in the "Innovation" category for an innovative and sustainable packaging system for ink-jet ceramic printing inks, a world first that it developed. The award was received by Juan del Casar Ximenez, General Manager of Akcoat Ceramic Global Business Unit.  

Reduces plastic in packages by up to 3 times

The "LessBox, Sustainable Packaging for Inkjet Ceramic Inks" project, developed by Akcoat and Hinojosa Packaging Solutions, reduces the environmental impact of injection inks used in the ceramic industry while significantly reducing waste generation. With the 100% recyclable ink-jet sustainable packaging system, plastic in currently used packages is reduced by up to 3 times. The project will also provide convenience to the entire ceramic industry in mixing and using inks and create logistic advantages.

We develop environmentally friendly projects

Veysi Küçük, General Manager of Akcoat, stated that the recognition of their successful work in innovation and R&D at internationally respected platforms serves as a motivation. Küçük, who said they develop environment-friendly and efficiency-enhancing projects with a sustainable development approach, said: "Our project offers a packaging system aimed at reducing the environmental impact of plastic waste associated with ink-jet ink usage by ceramic tile manufacturers, who are our business partners. We eliminate up to 3 times the plastic that has been traditionally contained in packaging systems used to package products, and we significantly reduce waste volume.
