Fortera to Accelerate Cement Decarbonization Fortera, a materials technology company aiming to speed up the transition to zero-carbon cement, has joined the Alliance for Low Carbon Cement and Concrete (ALCCC) alongside the international NGO ECOS and ten other alliance members. The ALCCC, established to support the decarbonization of the cement and concrete sectors, has members representing material designers and producers as well as start-ups working in biotechnology, carbon capture, materials technology and sustainable construction. ALCCC has published a new study titled "Accelerating the Pace of Cement Decarbonization" that models different carbon emission reduction scenarios using existing solutions where the enabling of standards, policies and financing instruments has halved CO2 emissions. Fortera CEO Ryan Gilliam and Europe Director Thierry Legrand convened with alliance members, standards experts, industry policy leaders, constructors and entrepreneurs to discuss measures that will accelerate cement decarbonization in the European Union, including new policies, standards and financing. Fortera Europe Director Thierry Legrand stated: "Climate action is a global priority and collaboration is essential to advance emission-reducing technologies and policies. This alliance represents the joint effort of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and environmentalists to reduce CO2 emissions from cement production." Fortera's field-tested strategy reduces CO2 emissions from cement production by at least 60 percent while using existing raw materials, energy sources and production infrastructure. Fortera is an additional solution to existing cement production and is actively working with industry leaders to achieve net zero CO2 emission targets. Source
