PPG Develops Custom Design for Aviation Market
PPG Launches Specialized Coating System for Aviation Market
PPG announced the first launch of the innovative PPG BOUNDLESS™ CA6500 series topcoats designed for the general aviation market in the United States and Canada.
Designed specifically for light aircraft and helicopters, the series consists of low volatile organic compound (VOC) polyurethane coatings formulated to deliver excellent durability, performance and appearance properties with minimal regulated VOC and volatile hazardous air pollutant (VoHAPS) emissions.
Vignesh Palanivel, Global Product Manager for PPG Aviation Coatings, said, "Light aircraft operators want a fast and comprehensive solution that requires minimal downtime when it comes to repainting, stripping or touch-up services."
"Additionally, they want affordable coatings that match their identity and imagination, as well as a variety of color palettes."
Historically, light aircraft manufacturers protected their aircraft using non-aviation topcoats, but had to contend with disadvantages such as poor liquid resistance, low gloss and color retention, and limited flexibility.
The PPG Boundless CA6500 series offers a complete environmental coating solution for light general aviation aircraft.
From color matching and custom batch sizes to flawless delivery, application and appearance, the polyurethane polishable topcoats offer an innovative solution with aviation-class performance.
Although targeted at light aircraft, PPG Boundless CA6500 topcoats are compatible with commercial, general aviation and military aviation epoxy primers and sanded surfaces.
