Clariant expands production capacity and launches new products in the edible oils and biofuels market in the EMEA region • Clariant is investing to increase production capacity at its plant in Yuncos, Spain • Activated bleaching earth portfolio is being expanded with new product series • Closer local production and service for customers for products reducing 3-MCPD in edible oils Clariant is increasing the capacity of its facility in the Yuncos region of Spain and expanding its portfolio of advanced refining products supplied to local customers. The company continues to increase supplies of high-quality and activated bleaching earth to the edible oils and biofuels markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Anıl Sönmez, Regional Manager for Purification and Functional Minerals Business Unit Europe, Middle East and Africa at Clariant, commented: "Our investment in the Yuncos facility in Spain enables us to provide our customers in the local edible oils and biofuels markets with the higher quality refining products and applied expertise they need to optimize their products. This investment completes our investments made over the past three years in our new and existing facilities in France, Germany and Turkey. These investments position us uniquely to meet the supply flexibility and solutions our customers need to rapidly address changing market requirements." The investment means higher supply, shorter delivery times and better service for Tonsil customers in Spain. This investment also completes Clariant's network of European production facilities offering unique supply and service flexibility to customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Consumers around the world are focusing on healthier eating habits and consumption of healthier cooking oils. Demand is growing for high-quality bleaching earth used in refined oils to remove unwanted impurities. Special emphasis is being placed on minimizing 3-MCPD compound levels, which are currently under close monitoring by the EU. Increasing interest in biofuel use in the EU is also driving demand for effective refining solutions, a sector served by Clariant with a specialized product portfolio.
