Balparmak Says "If There Are Bees, There Is a Future"
Balparmak: "If There Are Bees, There Is a Future"
Balparmak is taking ownership of World Bee Day with strong awareness campaigns for the future of our forests, bees and pine honey, while bringing fresh momentum to its efforts to raise consciousness about the importance of bee presence. Alongside a special project signed in cooperation with Migros and TEMA Foundation, it aims to reach all segments of society, from children to adults, through various field activities.
Bees are the planet's most productive pollinators, visiting more than 1,500 flowers per day. They are responsible for pollinating approximately one-third of the fruits, vegetables and nuts we consume and the crops we harvest. Additionally, they pollinate the cotton used in textile production and the plants used in general medicine. In this context, bees play a very important role in our ecosystem.
Balparmak, a pioneer in Turkey's honey and bee products sector, has worked with all its might since its establishment in 1980 not only for the development of its sector but also for nature. Aiming to raise awareness about the importance of bees for nature and humans, their contributions to the ecosystem and what can be done to protect them, Balparmak holds "World Bee Day" events on 20 May each year to remind people of the importance bees hold for humanity and our world.
This year, within the scope of awareness campaigns launched under the slogan "If There Are Bees, There Is a Future," Balparmak aims to teach everyone, from the largest to the smallest, about the importance of bees for the world.
The forest fires experienced last year dealt a serious blow to pine honey production. Pine honey yields, which have already been scarce in recent years due to drought and climate change, declined further following the fires. Balparmak, which has worked to benefit the world since its establishment, signed a special project with TEMA Foundation on the occasion of 20 May World Bee Day to restore the damaged pine forests, protect the future of bees, and thereby contribute to the continuity of nature.
For this project, Balparmak is cooperating with Migros and will put pine honey on sale in Migros stores between 12-25 May, after a long period of absence from shelves. With revenue from the sale of pine honey jars, Balparmak will donate 10,000 saplings to TEMA Foundation.
With the support of consumers and TEMA Foundation cooperation, afforestation work to be carried out in the Muğla region will help nature recover. In addition to this project, Balparmak is distributing seeds from plants most loved by bees to metro commuters in Istanbul, conveying its message about the importance of bee presence and explaining how to protect them.
Beloved and nature-conscious celebrities, wearing beekeeping suits, are sharing their support for the "Balparmak's If There Are Bees, There Is a Future" awareness campaign through posts on their social media accounts, thereby making a significant contribution to this important awareness initiative aimed at protecting bee populations.
