Ülker Continued Growth in 2021
Turkey's leading food company Ülker maintained growth in the first nine months of 2021 across both its Turkish operations and exports and international operations. The company increased its revenue by 20.7 percent to TRY 8.4 billion.
Ülker Biscuit increased its nine-month revenue for 2021 by 20.7 percent to TRY 8.4 billion compared to the same period of the previous year. In a statement submitted to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the company reported that Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) for the nine-month period of 2021 reached TRY 1.5 billion.
Ülker CEO Mete Buyurgan, noting that the company continues to contribute to the economy and stakeholders through its strong and independent financial structure and sustainable profitable growth, stated: "While our nine-month revenue reached TRY 8.4 billion, our Turkish operations accounted for 61.2 percent of revenue, while our exports and international operations accounted for 38.8 percent of revenue.
Particularly with international operations, operational profitability reached a significant level, accounting for 43 percent of total profitability. As pandemic restrictions eased, despite global challenges in service and commodity supply during the return to normality, we quickly adapted to the process with our successful strategies and plans suited to changing conditions, and we saw positive reflections in our business results," he said.
Buyurgan also recalled that they acquired Önem Gıda from Yıldız Holding companies, from which semi-finished materials had been sourced for many years, thereby consolidating the entire production process for chocolate and flour-based products within the company, taking another important step in their sustainable growth strategy.
Regarding Ülker's market leadership positions, Buyurgan stated: "Our market leadership in biscuits and chocolate in Turkey continues strongly. Looking at the region; our market leadership in the biscuit category in Egypt continues. Saudi Arabia is the largest market in the Middle East and North Africa region. Therefore, we continue to maintain our market leadership in the biscuit category in that market. In Kazakhstan, we have reached third place in the chocolate category. Overall, we continue our path as a strong leader in the snacking category in Turkey."
