Collagen Protein Slows Down the Aging Process

The human body contains 3 different types of collagen protein. Experts from DoktorTakvimi state that this protein, found in the body's most critical areas, preserves youth and slows aging. Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet provides important information about collagen protein. Collagen is the protein that forms the building blocks of the locomotor system, particularly bones, cartilage, fibers and joints. This protein has a major effect on youth. Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet from DoktorTakvimi experts notes that there are 3 different types of this protein: Type I, Type II and Type III. He states that Type I collagen is found in skin, bones, teeth, tendons and ligaments, Type II collagen in bone and cartilage tissue, and Type III collagen in the gastrointestinal system, vascular system and skin. The dermis layer (the layer between the skin's epidermis and subcutaneous tissue that protects the body against impacts) contains collagen and elastin fibers. When collagen decreases, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin's dermis layer also drops, the skin begins to dry out and becomes vulnerable to sunlight. Noting that collagen plays an important role in preventing these problems, Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet stated: "Collagen provides skin tightening and renewal. It reduces hair loss. It helps improve sleep patterns. It strengthens muscles, bones, nails and the immune system." Highlighting that age is the most important factor slowing collagen production, Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet warns that oxidative stress damage, high blood sugar, tobacco and alcohol use, vitamin C deficiency, sleep irregularities, excessive cosmetic use and cortisol elevation caused by stress reduce collagen production.

Foods that most support collagen production

Specialist Dr. Memet from DoktorTakvimi experts listed the foods that most support collagen production as follows: "Bone meats; bone marrow broth, beef, chicken, turkey, fish, egg white. Red-colored fruits and vegetables; raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, cornelian cherry, strawberry, cherry, apple, beet, tomato, sulfur-containing broccoli, cabbage, onion, garlic, cauliflower, leek, Brussels sprouts. Foods rich in vitamin C; sweet pepper, parsley, lemon, kiwi, orange, grapefruit and mandarin. Additionally, drinking plenty of water, paying attention to sleep patterns, avoiding tobacco and alcohol consumption and protecting yourself from the sun are among the most important factors that increase collagen."   While we cannot completely stop collagen loss, we can prevent it from decreasing. Noting that through medical skin care that increases collagen production, creams and serums containing collagen, and liquid and powder collagen supplements, it is possible to cope with collagen deficiency despite advancing age, Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet continued: "It is important that the collagen taken contains other vitamins and minerals beneficial to the skin, as other vitamins also support collagen and elastin synthesis. To support the skin, maintain skin health and look younger, a product containing Type 1 and Type 3 collagen should be chosen. It should be used for at least 3 months, and after a 3-month break, it should be used again for 3 months. When starting collagen use, you can prefer high-dose sachets or liquid forms. Since high collagen cannot be present in tablet products, tablet products should be used at maintenance dose, that is, after a 3-month course."
Specialist Dr. Bachar Memet, who states that limited damage-creating methods are used to stimulate collagen production, explained the reason as follows:
"When the skin experiences any injury, it synthesizes collagen to repair the damage. In subcutaneous tissues, collagen production, which decreases with aging, is increased with fractional lasers or gold needle applications. When supported with mesotherapy applications that trigger collagen production and provide vitamin and mineral support to subcutaneous tissues, the benefits of these applications are multiplied."
