Meaningful Donation from Santa Farma and Ant Teknik
Santa Farma, Turkey's established domestic pharmaceutical company with 75 years of history, together with Ant Teknik, donated a High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) instrument to the Nutrition and Metabolism Science Division of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Diseases at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine.
With the understanding of "healthy service to health," Santa Farma, which aims to develop innovative and value-added products and present them for human use, added another university-industry cooperation project to its portfolio. Together with Ant Teknik, which operates as Turkey's representative for scientific research instruments, Santa Farma donated a High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) instrument to the Nutrition and Metabolism Science Division of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Diseases at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, with the aim of increasing scientific data and enabling patients to receive faster and higher-quality service."Will also make significant contribution to the training of young researchers"
Speaking on behalf of the team at the Nutrition and Metabolism Science Division of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Diseases at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Associate Professor A. Çiğdem Aktuğlu Zeybek stated, "The new HPLC instrument, which will be used in clinical research for the purpose of monitoring the diagnosis and treatment process of inborn metabolic disorders, will also make a significant contribution to the training of young researchers who wish to work in this field." Çiğdem Aktuğlu Zeybek elaborated on the subject as follows: Inborn metabolic disorders, referred to as rare diseases, are mostly rarely seen but, particularly due to the effect of consanguinity in our country, are quite frequently observed compared to many countries in the world, and constitute a very significant health problem in our country. On one hand, because of their rarity, they face considerable challenges in diagnosis and treatment development processes compared to other diseases, but on the other hand, they are very open to research, and serious developments in this direction are greatly needed. Having strong and rapid laboratory support in the diagnosis and treatment of patients is of serious importance. Chromatographic methods are considered reliable in terms of the results obtained, easily applicable and open to new method development, and are the methods effectively used in the diagnosis of inborn metabolic disorders and accepted as the gold standard. "Our clinic, as a leading center in our country where the 'Nutrition and Metabolism Science Division' and 'Nutrition and Metabolism Science Division Laboratory' were first established in this field, is recognized as a reference center nationally and internationally through the successful research it has conducted. Thanks to the donated instrument, we will take a major step forward in our aim to contribute to both the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring processes of our patients and to the scientific world."Continuing university collaborations
