Vitamin Use Rose During Pandemic

Based on research conducted by phygital retail experience provider REM People, demand for dietary supplements and vitamins increased approximately 80% during the pandemic period. The share of products whose prices rose more than 20% within total products also increased to levels reaching 80%.

Cases Rise, Sales Rise

REM People Customer Success Director Ali Dedei, stating that they conducted the first analysis in this field in Turkey, said: "While demand for vitamins or dietary supplements that increased in the early period of the pandemic entered a declining trend in the first half of 2021 with increased vaccination rates, vitamin demand exploded when case numbers rose again."

Key findings from REM People's research on over-the-counter immunity-boosting products are as follows:

According to REM People, the best-selling products among dietary supplements were vitamin C, multivitamins, collagen and propolis varieties.

According to research revealing the situation in pharmacies, prices of dietary supplements and vitamins have risen over the past year. 42.7% of participants said prices increased by 20%, while 19.4% said they increased by 10%.

Demand Increased up to 80%

Preferences for dietary supplements increased during the pandemic. 58.9% of participants said demand rose, while 19.8% said it rose significantly. This revealed a demand increase reaching 80%.

Shelf Share Growing

Compared to before the pandemic, the share of dietary supplements within total products also increased. The proportion of those reporting positive growth was 58.1%, and the proportion reporting significant positive growth was 19.4%.
