BASF Introduces BHA-Free Retinol 50
In response to growing demand for cleaner and more environmentally friendly beauty products, BASF has developed Retinol 50, which contains neither BHA nor BHT and is therefore more aligned with the industry's clean beauty lists.
BHA and BHT are considered harmful ingredients by some consumers and have been included in numerous clean beauty lists in the personal care sector, such as Clean at Sephora and Conscious Beauty at Ulta Beauty™. The new product maintains the same stability level as the company's previous versions while preserving a high retinol concentration of approximately 50%.
Nader Mahmoud, Vice President of Personal Care Business Management at BASF North America, stated: "With the addition of Retinol 50 to our portfolio, BASF continues to meet consumer and industry needs for beauty products that prioritize environmental awareness.
As a significant retinol supplier in the market, BASF Care Chemicals must continue to optimize our portfolio and innovate for today's and tomorrow's market demands."
